In case of emergency! What to pack in your wedding day emergency kit

I would love to reassure you that your wedding day will be perfect – but that’s not reality!

Something goes wrong at every wedding. Always. Which is why it’s so important to come prepared! I always, always pack an emergency kit so that I’m armed and ready for the unexpected. And every wedding is different, so I can’t expect one bag to hold everything I’ll ever need. I wish it could! Where did Mary Poppins get her bag?! I have to check my kits (yes, plural) before every wedding, to make sure they’re holding everything I think I’ll need for that particular event.

If you’re a planner, just wait til next week – I have a checklist for you, too.

But, for my brides, here’s a typical list of what you’ll want to make sure you have close by. You’ll want to customize according to seasonal and location factors, but this will get you started! Most of this can be found at the dollar store or your favorite store’s travel section (bonus: travel sizes fit in your bag better!).

The Bride’s Wedding Day Emergency Kit Checklist

  • Scentless bug spray (like this)
  • Tissues
  • Baby wipes

  • Pain killer
  • Allergy meds and other necessary medication
  • Antacid
  • Band-aids
  • Tampons (you don’t want pads on this day!)
  • Super glue
  • Glue dots
  • Clear nail polish (keeps snags in place or ribbon from fraying)
  • Nail polish remover
  • Nail clippers
  • Nail file
  • Cotton balls
  • Q-tips
  • Bobby pins
  • Safety pins (various sizes)
  • Nail polish that matches your mani/pedi

  • Small brush/comb
  • Small mirror
  • Extra pair of contacts or glasses
  • Eye drops
  • Phone charger
  • Boutonniere pins
  • Drink straws

Phew! That’s a lot – but don’t worry if you forget something; my bag’s bigger than yours! I’ll have what you need. And if you’re a planner needing to stock (or restock) your own bag, stay tuned for next week and I’ll tell you exactly what I’ve learned must go with me to every event.
